"If he likes, each put in a small donation; but only if it he wants to and only if he is able. There is no compulsion; all is voluntary. These gifts are, as it were, piety's deposit fund. For they are not taken and spent on feasting and drinking-sessions, but to support and bury poor people, to supply the wants of needy boys and girls without parents, and of housebound old people.
